Dolly Parton shares touching message in posthumous video recorded before her death

As the lights dimmed inside Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, grief and gratitude seemed to hang in the air. Emmylou Harris had just traced Dolly Parton’s journey from “girl singer” to global icon, reminding everyone that Dolly never agreed to stay in anyone’s shadow. She wrote her own songs, built her own empire, and quietly changed countless lives through literacy programs, Dollywood, and a relentless belief that anyone could “start paving another” road.

Then Dolly herself appeared on the screen, recorded before her death, speaking of the roots music that raised her in the Smoky Mountains and gave her a second artistic life through bluegrass and Americana. She called that chapter a “musical renaissance,” grateful that new generations had discovered her all over again. Finally, she thanked the Americana Music Association, paused, and left the room shattered and comforted all at once: “Just know that I will always love you.”
