Man Dies After Being Ejected From Six Flags Roller Coaster—Four Others Were Injured, and the Cause Remains Under Investigation

Adrian KimOctober 14, 2026

A Father’s Final Ride Came Just Weeks After Surviving Cancer Twice and Escaping a Terrifying Car Fire With His Daughter

What was supposed to be an ordinary family day at Six Flags over Georgia ended in tragedy when a 42-year-old father was thrown from the Goliath roller coaster and died at the scene. For his family, the loss is even more heartbreaking because he had already overcome two major battles with cancer and had survived another terrifying incident only weeks earlier.

On Monday, October 12, Hassan visited the amusement park with his son while his wife and daughter watched from below. The family had no reason to believe that the ride would become the final moments of his life.

Hassan was riding Goliath, one of the park’s major roller coasters, when he was reportedly ejected near the end of the ride. The incident happened around the section where photographs are taken during the attraction, close to the bottom of the final major drop before the train reaches the braking area.

According to the information provided, the coaster is traveling roughly 45 to 50 miles per hour near that point. The preceding drop is approximately 48 feet, while the ride can reach a maximum speed of around 70 miles per hour at other sections.

Witnesses described a horrifying scene after Hassan was ejected from the train. He reportedly struck the ride vehicle and people inside the train before falling onto a building below. Emergency responders arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other people were reportedly taken to the hospital with injuries following the incident.

The tragedy has left an Atlanta family grieving a husband and father of two who had already faced extraordinary challenges in his life. Hassan was a teacher in Atlanta and, according to the information provided, had survived cancer twice.

Just weeks before the roller coaster accident, he and his daughter had reportedly escaped a car fire. After surviving that frightening incident together, the family could never have imagined that another disaster would follow so soon.

Now, investigators are trying to determine exactly what happened on Goliath.

The Cobb County Police Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation into the death. A separate investigation is also examining how the ride’s restraint system may have failed. Investigators are reportedly interviewing witnesses, riders, and park employees while reviewing ride photographs and visitor-recorded videos that could help establish the sequence of events.

Operations on similar roller coasters have also reportedly been suspended across North America while officials examine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

For Hassan’s family, however, the investigation cannot change the most painful fact. A man who had already survived cancer twice and escaped a frightening car fire with his daughter just weeks earlier was gone after what was supposed to be a family day at an amusement park.

His wife and children were there that day expecting to make memories together.

Instead, they were left facing a loss no family should ever have to experience.
