Ethan looked down at his phone for a moment, then raised his eyes to Lauren.

“You’re right,” he said quietly. “This is weird.”

Lauren forced a nervous smile.

“What’s even weirder is paying thousands of dollars to someone who deliberately planned an event to humiliate my wife.”

The laughter around the cabana stopped.

Lauren’s face went pale.

“Ethan, that’s not what happened.”

“I heard exactly what happened,” he replied. “You changed the entire weekend because you knew she struggled with her body confidence. You invited her only because you wanted my money, then designed the event around making sure she wouldn’t come.”

One of the bridesmaids slowly stepped away.

Lauren looked around nervously.

Ethan held up his phone.

“So I just canceled my card.”

The silence became unbearable.

“The cabana, the food, the daybeds, and everything else I paid for? That stops today.”

Lauren stared at him.

“You can’t do that!”

Ethan calmly placed his phone back into his pocket.

“I can. And I did.”

Then he looked at me.

“And there's something else.”

Lauren immediately shook her head.

“Ethan, please don't.”

But he continued.

“I also reconsidered how much of your wedding I’m paying for.”

The color completely disappeared from her face.

“You wouldn’t.”

“I would never use money to control you,” Ethan said. “But I’m also not going to financially reward someone for disrespecting my wife.”

Lauren stood frozen.
