My Husband Took a Vacation Days Before I Gave Birth to Our Twins — When He Returned Home, He Was Terrified by Who Was Waiting
Trevor and I had spent years hoping to become parents. When I finally became pregnant, we received another surprise: we weren't expecting one baby. We were expecting twins.
But the pregnancy was difficult.
During the final weeks, walking became painful, and even simple things around the house felt almost impossible. My doctor had already scheduled my C-section and made one thing perfectly clear: I would need help afterward.
Trevor knew everything.
So when he announced that he was leaving for a beach vacation with his friends only days before my surgery, I thought he was joking.
He wasn't.
“I need one last break before the babies arrive,” he told me.
Nothing I said changed his mind.
So I called my mother.
While I prepared to bring our daughters into the world, Trevor posted smiling photographs from the beach. Meanwhile, I went through surgery, recovery, and the exhausting first days of becoming a mother to two newborn babies.
When I finally returned home, I made a decision.
I wasn't going to scream at him.
I wasn't going to argue.
I simply made one phone call.
The person I invited arrived before Trevor returned.
On the afternoon he came home, I was sitting quietly with our twins when the front door opened.
Trevor walked inside carrying his suitcase.
Then he saw the person sitting in our living room.
His face immediately changed.
The suitcase slipped from his hand.
“No,” he whispered.
The person stood up.
Trevor's knees began shaking.
Because waiting for him was someone he had never expected to see in our house again—a person who knew exactly what Trevor had been doing during his so-called vacation.
And I was finally ready to hear the truth.
